Review for experts
micro1 for experts: is it legit, and what is the work like?
micro1 is a fast-growing AI data company with deep funding behind it: a September 2026 round of more than $100M valued it at $4B, and by August 2026 it was reporting gross revenue running at $500M a year. It recruits experts and professionals for project-based AI training work, and separately licenses operating data from companies.
We have no security incidents on record for micro1. It has no standard rate card, but every role on its public jobs portal now shows an hourly range. On 28 October 2026 those ranges ran from $6 an hour for home video recording to $400 an hour for specialist attorneys.

Our verdict
micro1 is a real, scaling business with significant funding and a public growth record. For experts, that means a steady flow of projects is likely. Pay is easier to judge than it used to be: each listing shows an hourly range before you apply. What a listing cannot tell you is how many hours a project will actually give you, or how long it will run.

What the work involves
micro1 matches experts with AI training projects for labs: writing and grading model answers, building evaluation tasks, and reviewing AI agent output in your field. Projects are time-bound, and availability depends on what labs are buying.
It also builds training environments from company data, which is a separate business line. If you own a company rather than work in one, see our micro1 review for sellers.
04
What micro1 offers experts
micro1 calls itself a data lab: it hires experts as remote contractors to produce training and evaluation data for AI labs and for companies testing their own AI agents. Its expert help pages sort the work into three streams: evaluations for frontier labs, evaluations built around a company's own workflows, and recording real-world tasks to train robots.
