Record types
Can you license call recordings to AI companies?
Recorded customer calls capture years of your team talking problems through. Calls rank high on several buyers' wish lists, and audio is also the riskiest record type for privacy.
01
Buyers that ask for calls
Call audio, transcripts and logs sit on buyers' lists beside email, tickets and CRM data, and some rank calls as a top priority. One good call holds a complete task: the caller describes the issue, your dispatcher probes, schedules the job and agrees the price.
02
Why audio is harder to clean
Written records can be searched and names replaced with codes. Recordings need transcribing first, a voice alone can reveal who someone is, and callers say card numbers, addresses and dates of birth aloud.
Before quoting, buyers will want to know what the recordings contain, with regulated or sensitive material top of the list.
03
Offering call data with less exposure
- License call logs and staff notes in place of the audio
- Provide scrubbed transcripts, and check samples before anything leaves
- Leave out queues that handle payments or health questions
- Check recording-consent and privacy rules with your lawyer first
FAQ
Questions, answered
Can I license call recordings?
Buyers ask for them. Whether you may depends on recording-consent and privacy rules where you and your callers are. Ask your lawyer.
Is licensing call logs simpler?
Yes. Logs reveal far less about a person than a voice does, and several buyers take them along with email and contracts.
Do I need to transcribe calls first?
Usually the buyer handles transcription. Ask who does it and where.
