How much is your company data worth?

The ads dangle $2M or even $5M, and you want a realistic figure for a company your size. Our own estimate, not any buyer's: with 20 to 100 staff, think tens of thousands up to a few hundred thousand dollars, assuming a buyer takes you on.

The numbers in the ads, and whose they are

Ad ranges usually open at $100K and reach $2M, $4M or $5M, with a handful starting around $50K. All of these numbers come from the advertisers themselves. micro1 saves its highest figures for one-of-a-kind data.

Factors that raise or lower a small firm's price

Before quoting, buyers always ask about headcount, how far back records go, the English share, where you are, your software, and any regulated or sensitive material. Larger teams, longer histories and linked records raise the figure. Read what drives the price.

By our reckoning, a firm of 20 to 30 people holding several years of data across a few linked systems would land near the bottom of buyers' $100K-plus bands, assuming it is accepted. Smaller or untidier archives tend to price like the sales of shut-down startups.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What might a small firm's records fetch?

Known sales by small and closed companies span roughly $10K to a few hundred thousand dollars. For businesses still trading, buyers advertise roughly $100K to $2M (self-reported).

Is the 'up to $2M' in ads realistic?

That is the ceiling of micro1's own range, kept for one-of-a-kind data. No published example shows a business of 10 to 100 people getting there.

Can I get a free valuation?

Yes, from several buyers' estimators and ours. None is an offer.

Will waiting get me more money?

Buyers say prices move as labs fill their gaps, which could help or hurt. None of them publishes how prices are trending.
