Troveo review: what sellers actually get

Troveo began by licensing video. Business data is its newer line. Rather than a single lump sum, it licenses your data to buyers under terms you sign off on, and you get a cut each time it sells.

Its claim: whole-company deals usually begin in the six figures, with no setup charges, fees or deductions.

Some buyers pay us a referral fee. It never changes your price or our score. How we make money.

  • Revenue share percentage not published
  • Income depends on repeat sales
  • Headline payout and sales figures cover all data types or are illustrative

Who Troveo buys from

Troveo publishes no headcount floor, but its estimator's lowest setting is 20 staff. Its own guide argues that a 40-person firm with a decade of specialized records can be worth more than a much larger company with generic data.

The anonymized company profiles it shows buyers span construction, healthcare, IT services, marketing agencies, restaurants, manufacturing, solar and software, so it is not tied to one sector.

03

What Troveo pays

Troveo pays a share of revenue on the first sale and every later one. The percentage is not published. Its headline "$20M+ paid" figure covers all of its data categories, including video, audio and gaming, so it says little about business data alone.

Its business data page shows 4 sales per dataset on average, but labels the block as an illustrative example. Its free assessment shows a sample result of $850K to $925K in first-year net earnings, which assumes four or more licensing deals and is also marked illustrative.

A cut of each sale only wins if your data gets licensed repeatedly. Before you weigh it against a single $100K to $2M offer, ask how many times a year datasets like yours actually sell.

04

The contract terms

Buyers review your data anonymously and learn who you are only once a contract is in place. Any exclusivity runs for a set period and must be earned, and every contract has a way out. That is kinder to sellers than most.

You keep ownership: Troveo licenses the data on your behalf under terms you sign off on. Buyers receive structured, anonymized data with a manifest listing exactly what is included.

05

Troveo's referral program

Troveo pays referrers a percentage of its net fees on deals they introduce.

06

What Troveo offers

Troveo started out licensing video, audio and gaming footage to AI developers, and its homepage names media owners such as Barstool Sports, Sinclair Broadcast Group and Benzinga as data owners. Business data is the newer line. Troveo acts as the seller's licensing agent: it anonymizes a company's records, shows them to buyers without your name, and pays you a share each time the data, or a product built from it, is sold.

07

Is Troveo a fit for your company?

Troveo fits an owner who is happy to earn over time and whose records are likely to attract several buyers. If you want one clean payment now, a direct buyer is simpler.

08

Six checks before you send Troveo anything

We run the same checks on every buyer we rank. They take an afternoon and they protect the one thing you cannot take back: the copy of your records.

  • Find the legal entity. A registered company name, an address and at least one named person. A Facebook form alone is not enough.
  • Get the offer and the contract in writing before any export. A sample agreement tells you more than a sales call.
  • Ask who strips personal data, how, and when. You should approve the method and see a sample before anything leaves your systems.
  • Ask where the data goes. Which AI companies receive it, whether you are told, and whether it can be resold.
  • Ask how everyone is paid. By you, by the buyer, or out of your deal. Referral fees are normal; hidden ones are not.
  • Get a second quote. Terms from at least one other buyer is the fastest way to know if an offer is fair.
